At Nalla Thangal temple we can see Nalla Thangal ,her brother and her seven children in the form of statues.It located in the village vatrayiruppu.In a small town named Srivilliputhur in the district of Viruthunagar. That is found in the state of Tamil Nadu in India.
The story tell's that the conversion of woman Nalla Thangal into goddess.Once upon a time
Nalla Thangal was a resident of the village Arjunapuram. Nalla Thangal is the sister of Nalla thambi, the king of Arjunapuram. She is married to Kasirajan, the king of neighbouring country Maanamadurai. Mooli Alangari ,the wicked queen of Arjunapuram becomes envious of the happy married life of Nalla Thangal.Years pass and one day drought strikes Maanamadurai. Nalla Thangal with her seven children seeks refuge in her brother Nalla Thambi's palace. Nallathambi promises all help while Mooli Alangaari tortures Nalla Thangal, but Nalla Thangal hides the misdeeds of Alangaari. From her brother as she does not want their family to be disturbed.
Nalla Thangal is forced to leave her brothers palace. She decide to kill her children and commit sucide. She throws her children one by one into a well and kills herself. After that Nalla Thambi know about the deadly instant he killed his wife and himself..
As Nalla Thangal and Nalla Thambi are a reverent siblings.So the lord appeared before them and blessed with a life once again.but the siblings entreat the lord to give them a place at their feet instead of god's gift. God responded their words.
Now a days thousands of devotees come this temple to beseech the blessings of goddess Nalla Thangal.
